The Process of Building a House
Monday,10 September 2018

We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a home design. It’s important to think about what you want in a home. What are your specific requirements? Is it important that you have a double garage? How many bedrooms do you need?

Browse our range of home designs to find the perfect house for your needs. We also make custom homes to better meet your requirements.

When building a new home it’s important to ensure that your home design is suitable for your block of land you intend to buy. We have a range of house and land packages for you to choose from.

If you are building on an existing block make sure you consult your home and land specialist early to see if your home design is appropriate.

Deciding on the right builder for your home is important so you feel at ease during the building process. A great builder will confidently answer your questions and provide updates as your house progresses.

Start Right Homes has built a strong reputation for developing outstanding relationships with our clients. Our personal service will keep you informed throughout every building step.

Once your finances have been approved and the contract has been signed, the construction on your new home can begin.

If you have any questions regarding how much money you can borrow, complete our simple loan and borrowing assessment form.

Once you have completed this form, we can estimate how much you can borrow and predict what your monthly repayments will be.

Site preparation

The initial preparation will require the land to be cleared of any debris or materials. This is also the stage where some retaining walls may be built.

Down goes the slab

There is some plumbing that’s required underneath the slab. Once this has been completed, your block of land will be magically transformed into a block of concrete.

Your home will really start to take shape once the brickwork has been completed.

The roof is complete

The roof framing is up and you can really see the shape of your brand new hope. A fantastic photo opportunity!

Grey plaster float and set, ceilings and cornices

Your walls will start to smooth out with the plaster float and set and ceiling in!

Lock up

Your doors are in and your site is secured! Time to start working on the interior fit out.

All of your beautifully chosen cabinetry has arrived and can now be installed.

Plumbing, waterproofing and tiling.

Your plumbing is in, bathroom is fully waterproofed and certified ready for tiling.

Fit out

This is the step where all prime cost items are fitted. This can include mirrors, custom showers or vanities.

Garage hardstand

Your garage slab is poured and ready for your new Colorbond door.

Practical completion

Once your build is at practical completion, you will walk through the home with your site manager for your Practical Completion Inspection or PCI. During this step any areas that require attention or fixing will be noted for maintenance.

You got the keys! Congratulations!
